Frequently asked Questions

While travelling in Europe , as Australians we get asked some interesting and strange questions. Below are some we have been asked, and the answers.

Are you a Millionaire?

I wish but sadly no. When we were on a six month trip we were asked this question. We do travel very cheaply as we have our own transportation, kitchen, bathroom etc. We rarely stay at campgrounds, wildcamping mostly.

Do you have any pets?

When booking into a campsite we have often been asked  “do you have any pets”. A stange question as we come from Australia. I tell them yes we have a kangaroo. We picked him up at a market in the Netherlands for 2 euros.

The back of the Bunyip

Our Motorhome has Dutch number plates and we have tried to make it as Australian as possible. Still some people think we are Dutch people who happen to like Australia.

Happy birthday Bunyip. You have served us well. Long may you run.

How did you get your motor home to Europe?

People think that we bought our motorhome from Australia. No we purchased it in the Netherlands and it stays there when we are back in Australia. Our cousin Martin looks after it for us.

Are you retired, do you still work ?

Both Jenny and myself still do some work. We sold our Locksmith business in 2008 and since then we have done a lot of travelling. Jenny works with disabled people in their homes. I still do a bit of locksmith work as well as help a friend Paint houses and I do some security work at the Adelaide Oval. All the work is casual and we can take time off to travel.

Which is your favorite country

We get this asked all the time. Its like asking which is your favorite child. All the countries we have visited have some good points and bad ones. I will say that I like the eastern block countries as they have different cultures. I enjoy every country we visit but it could also be a matter of attitude. You also have to ignore what other people say and experience a place through your own perception.
