Last few days on the road

We had four days left before returning to Martins place in Holland where we needed to sort the motorhome for its winterizing. With a few hundred kilometers to travel we would visit a few places of interest to break up the driving. Rouen  Arriving at Rouen (Oct 16 – Monday) in the afternoon we found […]Continue reading «Last few days on the road»

Last days in France

Sunday 18th September Sunday morning and we had a slow start with toast and scrambled eggs for breakfast. The overnight car park was very quiet and in the morning the valley was very foggy.   Monet’s Garden opens at 9.30 and the buses started arriving at 9.15 in the carpark adjacent to ours.Tour groups with leaders holding what looked like numbered table tennis bats escorted the masses to the entrance. Leaving at about 5.30 in the afternoon […]Continue reading «Rest Day and Versailles»

Castle and Chateau

Soissons I went off for a walk to give Jenny and Ewout some time alone…and walked up through the town, taking in the afternoon routines of the locals, children leaving school and the local Uni. At the top of the hill there were ruins of a mediaeval abbey and out buildings.   Pierrefonds Castle There […]Continue reading «Castle and Chateau»

Eating, shopping and enjoying France.

We left the snail farm after buying a tray of Escargot  for a meal one night. Our destination was Reims about 20kms away. The only motorhome aire in the town had very dodgy reports with people talking about homeless people around, drunks, drug addicts and perverts. As we had not planned to stay the night […]Continue reading «Eating, shopping and enjoying France.»

Sunday We didn’t get off to an early start having scrambled eggs for breakfast with croissants. The town of Toul was our destination and although it wasn’t far we didn’t arrive until after 12.
